YESTERDAY, TODAY, FOREVER

YESTERDAY, TODAY, FOREVER

Reading Jaya‘s poems, and in particular East Coast Swing, I found the footnote: “Inspired by Eugi’s Weekly Prompt: Dance” with an image that is a whirlwind of colors, which well represents dance and which Eugi has combined with the moonlight.

Moon. Dance.
Of course they can only be associated with him.

Anyone who does not admit to having tried at least once is lying.

Among other things, only he could go down in history with the penny loafers with white socks.

It was 1983: Motown Records reunion show with a lineup of great guests. Motown 25 YESTERDAY, TODAY, FOREVER… a fantastic name, isn’t it?

Following the performance Fred Astaire said: You’re a hell of a mover. Man, you really put them on their asses last night.”

What do you think about it? What put you on your ass?

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD 80 YEARS ?! NO: SHE IS TIMELESS

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD 80 YEARS ?! NO: SHE IS TIMELESS

Vivienne Westwood was born on April 8, 1941 in Derbyshire, a land that I immediately associate with Austenian atmospheres, but I have always attributed a Scottish soul to her, and I certainly do not feel I can attribute her 80 years in the personal sense.

The experience, on the other hand, is immeasurable, and in this regard I would be rather inclined to remember a different anniversary: in 1971, 50 years ago, in Chelsea – 430 King’s road a boutique was born destined to become history and become part of the places to visit: Let it rock.

It was punk at its deepest root, destined to evolve by continuing to be ahead of its time and to transform itself into the World’s End with the famous clock running backwards, obviously a “pearl” for me.

Another anniversary, this time to turn 40 is Pirates (1981): the first show, which went directly into history. In this video you can see the iconic Squiggle pattern inspired by the marine rope, subsequently reused in many variations on garments and accessories of all kinds.

In fact lately I’ve often talked about bags, so this time maybe it’s the case to take shoes more into consideration, or, better still, let’s stay on Pirate Boots, what do you think?

The symbolic fabric of the 90s, on the other hand, is Harris Tweed, idea born seeing a girl in the subway wearing a Harris Tweed jacket, in fact, and a bag containing ballet shoes.

As iconic garments we can directly consider the Time Machine Collection: National Museums Scotland

From the 2000s I would like to mention in particular the costumes created for the ballet of the New Year’s concert in Wien. I remember that I was looking without knowing anything and that I immediately felt the need to go and find who had created that look that had so impressed me.

Vivienne strikes now and forever.
This is her birthday message.
This is her featuring Without You from My Fair Lady.
These are the issues on which she invites us to reflect.

And she writes them with “footprints” … who knows me “already knows” that they have always been my signature … right Luciana?

DINY DANCING

DINY DANCING

I challenge anyone not to view the Dirty Dancing images as soon as The Contours’ Do you love me notes start.

Well, after seeing the Boston Dynamics video, for me the record is officially surpassed: I will never be able to forget these dancing robots

Don’t you find them absolutely engaging? Admit it: it is impossible to stand still.

We are not talking about computer graphics, so congratulations to the programmers: the couple of Atlas together with Spot and Handle move according to an inter-coordinated programming and to the beat of music.

Music that is certainly not a random choice … the text in fact speaks clearly:

🎶 You broke my heart

‘Cause I couldn’t dance

You didn’t even want me around

And now I’m back

To let you know

I can really shake ’em down

🎶

Do you love me?

(I can really move)

Do you love me?

(I’m in the groove)

Now do you love me?

(Do you love me)

Now that I can dance

(Dance) 🎶

So what about these Diny Dancers?

🎶

Tell me

Tell me 🎶

A RIVEDER LE STELLE

A RIVEDER LE STELLE

This time I continue the previous post and I really hope you haven’t missed such an amazing show

I had already seen Tosca last year, and in general I find that the opportunity to follow these events really has a relevant value.

This year the rehearsals of the planned Lucia di Lammermore had been interrupted as our lives continue to be interrupted in this period that we hope will end very soon, but the union of the work of various and prestigious excellences has meant that as in a magical blend what was created for me was a perfect alchemy.

I think about the Elective Affinities, I don’t know if you pass me this comparison that comes from my enthusiasm for the crescendo of citations that has composed a series of artistic sequences to leave you breathless.

For example, I found a moment that I would define perfect with Bizet’s Carmen when the music that I simply adore was combined with images to create a pictorial and suggestive effect with the added value of King Giorgio‘s dress.

Another very strong surprise: Davide Boosta Di Leo, who oversaw the part with the performance of Roberto Bolle.
I very much appreciate the contaminations in this sense.

And, as it turns out laughing I have a particular weakness for quotes, characteristics for which while I was watching I felt like a child who finds many packages under the Christmas tree.

Ballet

Cinema

Art

Fashion

Symbolic frames and literature

Listing everything would be an understatement and I would end up forgetting something anyway, so I rather ask what struck you most.
