CAT AT THE MET

CAT AT THE MET

Cat at the Met is the description that came to mind when I saw these images

on the instant I smiled but then I wondered what prompted Jared Leto to dress up as a cat

This is the Met Gala: an event created to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute that over the years has become such a prestigious and coveted event not only in the fashion world that tickets, for those not included on the invitation list, are astronomically priced.

Nevertheless, the Met Gala has a strict rule: no cell phones and consequently no sharing on social media.

This perhaps contributes to the idea of exclusivity that Anna Wintour has built over the years making it an event that some refer to as “the Oscars of fashion.”

As a Meryl fan I inevitably associate Miranda Priestly,  by the way did you see that Andy was actually appearing in the video? 🙂

So back to the cat: Jared Leto was not the only one who wanted to follow the dress code of this edition by paying homage to Choupette, aka Karl Lagerfeld’s cat.

In fact, the Met Gala 2023 was also dedicated to Karl Lagerfeld as a preview of the Costume Institute’s exhibition A line of beauty:  at the Metropolitan Museum from May 5 to July 16.

Undoubtedly dressing up as a cat has made even we in our own small way are talking about it, but beyond that, do you find it a brilliant or irreverent idea?

Do you think this participation added a valuable contribution, or the risk of slipping into style fall?

Can we see it as a touch of irony or can it be a missed opportunity to give a message?

In general I think we all have a great need for levity, certainly we also have to learn from cats.

In the meantime we should maybe convince Jared Leto to be less tea guy 🙂 what do you think?

And maybe even less Cat at the Met.

Joking aside, now that he has felinely got our attention, we expect great things from the new Thirty seconds to Mars album due out on May 8, especially after the statements he made in an interview: listening to Italian 80s music during the filming of the movie House of Gucci  in which Jared played Paolo Gucci, left an important imprint of inspiration because it was able to reach the heart.

How can you blame him?

GLASS ONION Knives Out

GLASS ONION Knives Out

Here comes Knives Out again!

About the first Dinner with Murder I have been VERY enigmatic, so now, I should exceed 🙂

Just kidding! Of course I won’t, although really the “mystery” is hardly the interesting part of the Glass Onion movie.

I found the whole chain of quotes and cameos ringed together as a long sequence of amusing gems.

Even Spot appears.

The cameo I loved the most?
“Angie” … for you to find out who she is.

Among the official cast my favorite is Kate Hudson, who reunites with the same friend from How to loose a guy in ten days, the movie I told you about in You’re so vain

About friendships: a friend of director Rian Johnson is the … time gong aka Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The most iconic unofficial quote in my opinion is the White Russian: although Dude is unique and inimitable.

Speaking of drinks: beware of drinks!
Incidentally, Glass Onion is the name of a Cafe.

As for coffee in a scene there is the I love New York mug in the picture, but it is definitely Jared Leto’s Kombucha tea that takes the cake.

Miles Bron, the character played by Edward Norton, is a parody of the … so-called new owner of Twitter …

Dave Bautista is in sharp regression from his Drax in The Guardians of the Galaxy.

And I honestly shuddered at the idea that anyone would even think of comparing the detective played by Daniel Craig to Hercule Poirot

All wrong then?

Yes. But that is precisely the power of the movie.

It is a dangerous thing to exchange talking without thinking with telling the truth.

RED ELF

RED ELF

As a bad researcher, unfortunately I was unable to find a pearl that I wanted to show you: it came back to me hearing about the House of Gucci set everywhere.

Ridley Scott is filming in Italy between Gressoney, Milan and Como and rumors about the cast are going crazy, which boasts a remarkable roster of characters: Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jared Leto and Jeremy Irons…

But I would like to focus on Patrizia Reggiani: reading that she was annoyed at not having been contacted by Lady Gaga, I immediately thought back to the interview during which I had got to know her in all her resolute personality.

November 13, 1993: one of Harem’s guests is Patrizia Reggiani and Catherine Spaak, with that touch of perfidy hidden under her smile, interviews her in particular about the separation.

Patrizia Reggiani tells how Maurizio Gucci noticed her at a party as a “red elf” because of her dress, and adds that she initially made him believe she was the daughter of a “truck driver” only to specify that her father had an important transport company.

I remember one of Catherine Spaak’s comments: “I would have continued to be the trucker’s daughter a little longer …”

But the crescendo comes when Spaak asks “has she already had a lot of money, the house here, the boat there … isn’t that enough?”

Answer: “Gucci assets have been rated xxx, what do you think?”

Well, obviously I don’t remember the figures or the details, but the response phrase and the tone of the “what do you think?” remained impressed on me as if I had heard them yesterday.

And I imagined them as a frame for the statements against those who will play her on the big screen.

I want to clarify, but promise me not to ban me for this, that I do not like Lady Gaga … well, I said it.
I am talking about the singer, because I have not seen A star is born and therefore I do not comment on acting, which, moreover, has been praised by everyone.

But meeting the person to be interpreted is not the rule.
Do you remember examples of this?

The vision of the film will give us the arduous sentence …

Speaking of visions, in case you, who don’t have all my springs, have never seen Harem, I suggest you recover some excerpts: at the time the interviews with Catherine Spaak gave various goodies, making people known a little more in detail a variegated parterre of characters.

If, on the other hand, you want to get a personal idea of Patrizia Reggiani, you can review the interview with our lady Franca Leosini for Storie Maledette.

And, just in case, as always: correct me if I’m wrong.
