THE FIRST TEST

THE FIRST TEST

The first written test of the final state examination is the same essay for everyone.

And this equality links all candidates with a thread that unites them regardless of the path that led them to that fateful day.

The day of the essay for the so-called maturity.

Those who went to high school, those who chose a technical institute; those who attended Italian classes with predisposition and those who are more into math; those who never had any bad vote and those who were able to catch up.

All of them, all students indiscriminately, find themselves on the same morning sitting on their desks in the common expectation of taking the first written test.

The castle of thoughts regarding the hypothetical topics of the tracks have become “legendary” to the point that more or less all people find themselves reliving the emotions of the hours that mark a crucial moment, a phase that ends by symbolically opening the door to the future.

How did you experience your exam?

Did you suffer through the wait?

Do you still remember what the topic of your paper was?

What was your exam about? What kind of test did it consist of?

FOMO

FOMO

Fomo means Fear of Missing Out.

Neologism appeared on Treccani already in 2015 and, as indicated by the Accademia della Crusca, published in the Zingarelli in 2022.

I just told you about Darth Anxiety: on fears I am very well prepared.

Have you ever had fear or a sense of exclusion?
Do you have or know other types of phobias?

The first considerations regarding the phobia of being excluded would seem to go back to Dan Herman, marketing expert, I would advise you to take a moment to read this analysis

The fear of being cut out can also be understood as exclusion from the famous commercial offers that offer products in promotion “until sold out” or by announcing a limited number of pieces.

But the academic study on the phenomenon was published by the team of Andrew Przybylski of the University of Oxford and pointed out that Fomo disproportionately affects young people, especially males.

This leads to associate the fear of being cut off with the virtual world of social networks.

However, it is not so obvious and according to a further National Library of Medicine‘s study which was also attended by “our” Sara Palmieri there is still a lack of correlation.

The results are as follows:
In some populations, FoMO appears to increase with age and is inversely in other populations. Facebook use is unrelated to FoMO in some populations, and a higher FoMO is linked to stopping Instagram use for some individuals. The FoMO-Internet use association is independent of gravity, since the interaction is not significant and this association is neither linear nor curvilinear. The FoMO-Internet use association does not appear to be associated with depressive, anxiety and stress symptoms or life satisfaction levels.
FoMO demonstrates a considerable role in the use of the Internet; however, there is no evidence of bidirectional interaction or association between the aforementioned. Overall, we still don’t know what factors contribute to individuals exhibiting distinct patterns in the FoMO-Internet use association.

What’s your opinion?
What do you think about social networks?

On June 28, a film produced by KDPBelgium will premiere in Antwerp, the title is FOMO:
a group of 10 influencers take part in a brand new reality show with a trip to the world as the main prize. The game, which takes place deep in the forest, doesn’t turn out to be as innocent as thought. Numerous bizarre situations occur that lead the group to question the program setting. When a masked killer suddenly shows up, the game turns into a battle for survival and a game of cat and mouse takes place between the influencers and the killer.

But in this case I would say that the type of fear is very different, isn’t it?

FOUR THIRDS PI R3

FOUR THIRDS PI R3

I infinitely thank Lucia Amendola Ranesi, together with Mari’s Manual, for the opportunity to discover the book Quattro Terzi Pi Greco Erre Tre which I loved very much.

What is the volume of the sphere? Four Thirds Pi r3.

It is not the first time that I have told my interest in books on mathematics, but in this case I was immediately struck by the affinity of thought.

Starting with a formula to tell a story

Or starting from a story to tell a formula.

Actually both.

The “formula” to which one arrives, however, is not a calculation, but a journey that leads, or rather: brings back, to the origin.

I don’t like to reveal too much, because I would like you to try the same engaging reading experience that I had, and I would like you too to come to the “full circle” with all the load of emotions that accompanied me.

I considered Quattro Terzi Pi Greco Erre Tre as the equation of a world in which to enter through a wonderful exchange of letters, precisely those handwritten letters, the letters  so dear to me.

A family sphere, but also a historical sphere.

And through the life of the characters I first understood the vocation: the passion for studying and teaching, together, as in a real union that lasts for a lifetime.

But the book also teaches that fate is not always behind the things that scare us the most.

And it shows how pure and true love cannot in any way be dirtied.

I will certainly not forget a special Grandmother, whom I wish I could hug as she repeats that all soldiers are sons.

And a special woman: Maria Moreno, who I hope will be remembered for her ability to combine literary and scientific studies, delicacy and strength of mind, poetry and everyday life.

Obviously I tend to focus more on the female characters, but undoubtedly Rodolfo too, as well as two important figures who have left a mark on our history, offer very interesting reflections.

What if I told you Renato Caccioppoli? What if I told you Ettore Majorana?

In a book so close to my heart, could coffee be missing?!

Obviously not! In fact, here it is:
