I would like to point out the event that will be held from today until September 6: Genoa Jeans, a multifaceted and ambitious project that inaugurates the street of jeans.

Such an initiative could only take place in Genoa, the city that gave the name and origin to the most widespread and universal garment of all.

Genes blue.

Since we don’t pay attention to De Nimes, right? And not to bring out the usual rivalry with cousins from beyond the Alps … 

Curious to know what this “street of jeans” which is defined as the future Genoese Carnaby Street consists of, I found myself thinking about how jeans have changed from the first pair worn as a child to today.

So I tried to retrace the transformation of the models:
50s, Marylin, a myth

60s: B. B. embodies freedom

the symbolic image of the 70s is unquestionably represented by the flared jeans

that in the 80s tighten at the bottom and here there is not the slightest doubt: King Giorgio‘s high-waisted jeans. 
But I, who couldn’t afford them, loved the curled balloon version or alternatively with the basque.

ups and then downs? In the 90s the must was wide and long up to trample them …

in the 2000s life was lowered … until it almost disappeared

2010s we go back but the centimeters recovered disappear in width: skinny version

And now? Would you go on with quoting?
How many pairs do you own? How often do you wear jeans? Do you find that they can be suitable for all occasions?

Does your job include the possibility of wearing a pair of jeans or do you have a dress code? I think, for example, of when they were banned by Bush for White House collaborators.

Can you find them totally personal? I ask this because I find it singular even just the fact that there is a debate reported by the New York Times  according to which base FBI investigation on the uniqueness of the denim fabric worn by suspected criminals, since each pair has a unique wear pattern impossible to replicate in a completely identical way.

By the way, this is where the 501 was presented to us in a stone washed version.

But too much water has passed under the bridge so today the trend is directed towards those who instead promote eco-friendely behaviors such as Howies, Monkee Genes or even Mud Jeans which rents them for a monthly leasing fee that can last 12 months after which jeans are yours.

I recently received the greenAPES newsletter with the good news that the cities of Parma and Prato joined the jungle!

Do you already know this social on environmental sustainability?
In case you are a “monkey” maybe you want to tell me your experience, otherwise I suggest you explore here because you can get interesting ideas.

This funny video expresses the basic concept that starts from the idea of primates: us.
As primates we should have the fate of the planet at heart by evolving into green … always bearing in mind that no one is infallible and therefore sometimes the result is not perfect … but we try!

And even in this case, sharing is a winning card.
So successful that it materializes in winning: the prizes are obtained through the conversion of the notorious bankonuts, or discount codes and coupons that can be used at sustainable partners in the city.

greenAPES is supported by the European CHEST project (Collective enHanced Environment for Social Tasks) but was born in Florence: thanks to Gregory Eve CEO and co-founder together with Francesco Zingales, Renato Orsato and Giovanni Bajo.

Gregory Eve: Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florence and Master Environmental Management from the Lund University in collaboration with which in 2011 he organized the Green2bee Sustainability World tour.

I found this video: AlexanderPlatz, reckon it dates back ten years… at some point in the glee they made me think of “O’Malley and the Alley Cats” from Aristocats …

(Can I open a WHO CARES parenthesis? Do you know that O’Malley’s original voice belonged to Scatman Crothers aka Dick Halloran from The Shining?) 

obviously needless to say the Italian language is not represented …

And while I was looking for coffee-sized representations I came across another green monkey: Green Ape Coffee which is part of the Ape Alliance: an international coalition of organisations and individuals, working for the conservation and welfare of apes and the rainforests they live in.

Be that as it may: green Ape or Ape alliance, these are commendable initiatives.

At this point, however, I cannot fail to mention Dian Fossey: “I had a wondeful contact, especially with Uncle Bert who was an angel and led the whole group over to my side of a steep ravine I could not cross to get over to them.” 

When we say “only have to learn” …

The 90th edition of the MICAM exhibition closes today  which had MICAM in Wonderland as its theme with a great MICAM Digital Show in collaboration with the NuORDER platform, not only for e-commerce but also for after-sales services and above all communication.

After the debut in February, the MICAM X area  focuses meetings and workshops on four points: Art Fashion Heritage & Future, Retail of the future, Trends and materials, Sustainability.

But above all it should be noted the magic of #MicamTales which ranges from the Tea Tasting with set-up and White Rabbit to the IKIDS square: a fairytale setting in which there is also the most large shoe made in Italy with Lego bricks.

Special mention for #MicamDolls: an evolution of the collaboration with Humana which since 2017 has collected 21,500 pairs of unsold shoes with the initiative A hand with the feet and which this year has introduced the Wonder Dolls whose proceeds will go to the education of children in Malawi.

These dolls are inspired by Alice in Wonderland characters and are created with recycled yarns by the artist Allison Hoffmann who crochets them.

A special space has been dedicated to new designers,  MICAM is in fact a very important showcase that offers previews of what will be new trends to come.

Slippers stand out more among the novelties for the summer.
Very colorful and available in various versions from extra light to tank, padded, and decorated with stones or fur.
Here you can convince me because my retrograde vision takes over …

Seriously, one thing is sure: the right praise must be given to those who do not give up and do their utmost to restart with courage, inventiveness, spirit of adaptation and ability to evolve #StrongerTogether.
