NON-DEMOCRATIC DWARF TALES

NON-DEMOCRATIC DWARF TALES

The last reading I owe to Mary’s Handbook is Andrea Francavilla’s Non-Democratic Dwarf Tales.

The short stories are dwarfed in terms of length but the author’s ability to evoke situations and contexts in the space of a few words by building characters through their dialogues immediately emerges.

The short stories are not democratic, how would you personally interpret this definition?

The author mentions a friend in the acknowledgments for this very title.

These Non-Democratic Dwarf Tales have a common denominator: a rainy night.

I don’t know about you, when I think of the words ‘night’ and ‘rain’ I immediately think of the very famous phrase from the film The Crow: It can’t rain all the time.

For me it’s like a kind of mantra in difficult times.

Do you like the rain
Do you like to go out when it rains ?

The book’s protagonists are what one might call a repertoire of varied humanity and well represent hardship, frailties, mistakes, doubts, imperfections, and all the varied facets of the difficulties of living.

My compliments to the author on how he has come full circle.

Non-Democratic Dwarf Tales is a first work but I hope we will soon be able to read more by Andrea Francavilla.

In his bio he says he is convinced that behind every problem lies an opportunity and I personally have only to learn.

HABITAT

HABITAT

Habitat: the natural environment in which an animal or plant usually lives.

Here, I was thinking that I would like to see a series like ‘animals in their habitat’ instead of The Animals in my zoo.

No doubt it is very important that children learn about animals, but why the zoo?

The advertisement says that the characters were developed by a team of pedagogues.

Now, I am nobody, but wouldn’t it be nice to teach the concept of habitat?

Besides, it would also be very useful for geography.
Do you think kids know geography properly?

Zoos are becoming facsimiles – or perhaps caricatures – of how animals once were in their natural habitat.
Michael J Fox

Going back to the series, have you ever collected editions in weekly or otherwise periodical issues?

Are you the patient type who likes to wait and see your collection grow slowly and progressively?

Or rather do you prefer to search independently from bookshop to bookshop for the volumes that interest you?

Precision or inspiration?

Talk about creative ability:
Evolution is so creative. That’s how we got giraffes.

THE PEN IS ON THE TABLE

THE PEN IS ON THE TABLE

The pen is on the table how many times have you repeated this phrase?

How long has your knowledge of English continued?

Apparently, the new global survey in this regard sees Italy in the last place among all European nations for language skills in English.

Yet we begin to study English since kindergarten, we are surrounded by sources in languages of all kinds, we are also a people of saints, navigators and travelers … when possible …

We should be constantly learning and we should demonstrate significant growth in the knowledge of the English language.

Instead we are the worst at EU level, only Moldova is just after Italy as shown in the graph

Why?

The study is English Proficiency by EF but to tell the truth we don’t need a study to realize it.

On the other hand, the legendary Mr. Flanagan also taught us!

Seriously, who hasn’t followed the tutorials by John Peter Sloan at least once?

My all-time favorite character: Granny Smith of course!

We really should be able to call her at least once a day.

Do you have any suggestions for improving English?

In the meantime, I fear that we will continue to make do our way …
