LAVAZZA BEST COFFEE ROASTER

LAVAZZA BEST COFFEE ROASTER

Did you know that Lavazza was rewarded at the European Coffee Awards?

The Coffee Awards gather the best leaders in the industry each year and winners are chosen by a team after deep analysis.

The award to Lavazza was delivered in Barcelona, where the fourteenth edition took place.

The creator of the European Coffee Symposium (ECS) is Jeffrey Young: since 2008 he has been working to realise the dream of bringing together the most influential minds in the coffee and hospitality industries across Europe.

Jeffrey Young is the Managing Director of Allegra Strategies with 20 years of experience in global market analysis and focuses on coffee through the Allegra World Coffee Portal

Lavazza was awarded the title Best Coffee Roaster 2023.

Personally I am delighted, what do you think?

Lavazza Red Quality belongs to my earliest memories as a child.

Lavazza in 1970 created a new standard by introducing the vacuum-packed aluminium foil pack for the launch of Red Quality.

I don’t need to remind you that the aromatic note of Lavazza Red Quality is chocolate, do I?

A product on the market from more than half a century while remaining consistently intact and maintaining the right balance between quality and price that has allowed it to serve 20% of the coffees in Italy.

How about that?

Not to mention that Lavazza gave us Caballero and Carmencita, remember them?

Carmencita just wanted Paulista ‘the man in sight with the conquering moustache’ but she would never have imagined Lavazza Best European Coffee Roaster.

SPOONS

SPOONS

The magical world of spoons was the title of the exhibition in Vigevano that I missed.

I was able to retrieve the images here but I would like to chat about spoons with you.

First of all, I admit that I have stopped using spoons since I do not put sugar in my coffee, although in doing so I violate the rules of bon ton that requires that the spoon is always served.

Not only that: I’m also wrong because I don’t follow the advice of experts who say that espresso should be stirred anyway.

Do you use a spoon?

Do you have a favorite spoon?

There are some really fancy spoons actually, here for example the New Wave by Villeroy & Boch

or the Alessi set, again we are outside of the Etiquette though, which requires that the spoons be equal to each other

And had you ever seen Lavazza’s ESpoon?

There is even a “cream-saving” spoon.

Then if the cream is matched with this choc… spoon, isn’t the result sublime?

What spoon do you use?

Among the spoons we have I prefer the white and yellow checked ones, which are not elegant, but are very nice.

Would you believe it if I told you that I managed to lose two of them?

Who loses them, who drops them … Salvador Dalì made the spoons symbol of his research on the oneiric.

Have you ever woken up during a dream and felt the desire to memorize the images in your head the instant they vanished?

Salvador Dalì used to fall asleep after lunch in his armchair with a spoon in his hand, knowing that when his sleep was deep, his fingers would drop the spoon, and expecting that the thud of the spoon would wake him abruptly allowing him to remember.

Undoubtedly he gave us dream works, if you will allow me this pun.

Incidentally, spoons are also a symbol of good luck: the tradition of giving silver spoons to new babies still continues.

This custom comes from the Middle Ages: when newborns of noble families received a silver spoon as a gift as proof of wealth from birth.

Born with a silver spoon in one’s mouth.

What did yours look like?

I didn’t get any silver spoons, but I consider myself equally lucky, and I can always fill my empty spoon with a nice dose of Nutella, can’t I?  🙂

Have a good coffee then, perhaps inspired by Liz’s elegance to stir it, what do you say?

INTERNATIONAL COFFEE DAY

INTERNATIONAL COFFEE DAY

Every year on October 1st, the international day is intended to celebrate coffee and recognize the millions of people around the world: farmers, roasters, baristas, coffeehouse owners and more, who work hard to create and serve the drink we love.

International Coffee Organization dedicates the focus of the 2020 edition to a collective mission to help coffee farmers around the world to receive a fair and viable income with the program Coffee’s next generation to specifically support the next generation of young producers.

Catarina explains it better:

In case you are interested, here is a small summary of some scheduled events:

Starbucks Reserve Roastery Milan offers a coffee tasting of the “Anniversary Blend” but pay attention to the specific time slots: from 9 a.m. to 9.30, from 11 a.m. to 11.30, from 2 p.m. to 2.30 and from 4 p.m. to 4.30, excluding the Malpensa Terminal 1 and Cordusio premises.

Talent Garden Calabiana organizes an outdoor community breakfast sponsored by Lavazza.

Cimbali  will host the first live broadcast of the Italian Coffee Network full of interviews, demonstrations and webinars in collaboration with the trainers of the Mumac Academy, organized by Istituto Espresso Italiano, SCA Italy and Consorzio di Tutela del Caffé Espresso

On the other hand, at Caffé Gambrinus, the From the bean to the cup event has unfortunately been canceled.
Just as on the Milano Caffè website nothing appears.
And it is a real shame because never before would it be appropriate to encourage the cafes that have been particularly affected.

For this reason I find the initiative of La Genovese Caffé nice: Offer a coffee to your bartender which proposes to overturn the roles leaving for once a suspended coffee for the one who prepares it, in order to express closeness and sympathy.

Or more simply as indicated here
On October 1st, World Coffee Day, users are invited to take a photo or screenshot of their coffee date and post it and tag @juliusmeinlofficial to support a global cause.
For each contribution that uses the @juliusmeinlofficial tag during the campaign period, be it a comment, post or story, Julius Meinl will contribute € 1 (or the equivalent in USD) in support of Worldreader up to a total of 11,534 $ (Eleven Thousand Five One hundred and thirty-four US dollars).

Another BEAUTIFUL THING is: Meet with a poem!

Among other things, speaking of poems, I could tag important friends.

The explanation of the initiative appears on the website: Julius Meinl who is the organizer and foresees a poem to be written together with a dear friend to receive two special coffees in exchange.

But ours are always special coffees, right !?
