AKTION GEHT UNTER DIE HAUT

AKTION GEHT UNTER DIE HAUT

Aktion geht unter die haut means action gets under the skin.

Literally, in this case.

What case? What action?

The case refers to Austrian Federal Minister Gewessler’s public relations campaign.

The action consists of a tattoo in exchange for an annual ticket valid for public transportation: a Klimaticket.

Klimaticket tattoo, then.

This campaign took place at the Electric-Love Festival in 2023. The executing company is One Mobility GmbH, founded specifically for the Klimaticket and 64.417 percent owned by the Republic of Austria.

Leonore Gewessler was at the Frequency Festival to promote the Klimaticket tattoo in person with the motto: aktion geht unter die haut “this campaign gets under your skin.”

Volunteers were able to choose one from a range of drawings and get tattooed directly on the spot.

All themes had to do with the “for the climate” ticket or the environment.

Samples included, for example, the word “Go Green” surrounded by a heart but also the words Klimaticket.

The first three people tattooed on the spot each received a free ticket valid for one year.

The promotion of public transportation is not in question, but the manner?

I find it offensive to young people in the first place, since place and conditions point to them as the main target audience.

We are really showing the young people the worst: our inadequacy, our incompetence, our lack of criterion, of values, of common sense.

Not even Orwell came up with such an idea.

By now we are not even consumers anymore, but merchandise, with an expiration date moreover.

Even our skin becomes an advertising space, to be sold off, by the way.

Am I exaggerating?

GEORGIA GUIDESTONES

GEORGIA GUIDESTONES

One year ago, precisely on July 6, 2022, an explosion destroyed the Georgia Guidestones l and to date no guilty has been found.

The Georgia Guidestones were a granite monument hewn in 1980 in an area that for the Cherokee people is Al-yeh-li A lo-Hee which translates to “center of the world,”  on Elberton territory, more precisely.

For years the Guidestones have been such a tourist attraction that they have earned the nickname America’s Stonehenge.

Well, this is an undoubted exaggeration, but I speculate that the Guidestones constituted an excellent calling card for a locality that carries the slogan “The Granite Capital of the World.” on its website.

A monolith of about 119 tons is certainly remarkable.

The reference to Stonehenge is due to some special features including, for example, the placement of the four large outward-facing vertical blocks that were oriented to the limits of the moon’s migration during the course of the year.

An oblique hole at eye level allowed the pole star to be visible at all times, symbolizing constancy and orientation with the forces of nature.

And a slit in the center of the stone formed a “window” that aligned with the positions of the rising sun at the summer and winter solstices and equinox so that the midday sun shone to indicate noon on a curved line.

The creators intended the stones to function as a compass, calendar, and clock.

But what most connoted the Guidestones was the message proclaimed on the monument in 12 languages, including archaic languages such as Sanskrit, Babylonian cuneiform, Egyptian hieroglyphics and classical Greek, as well as English, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Spanish and Swahili.

The text consisted of ten points, ten tips, ten guides for the preservation of mankind and future generations.

Keep humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.

Guide reproduction wisely, improving fitness and diversity.

Unite humanity with a “living” new language.

Rule Passion, Trust, Tradition and all things with tempered reason.

Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.

Let all nations rule internally, resolving external disputes in a world court.

Avoid petty laws and useless officials.

Balance personal rights with social duties.

Prize Truth Beauty and Love seeking harmony with the infinite.

Be not a cancer on the earth. Leave room for nature. Leave room for nature.

Even Agent Smith’s monologue defines mankind as a cancer in the 1999 film The Matrix.

In general, these are concepts that recur while remaining ever relevant and lend themselves to interpretation according to the reader’s point of view.

The only specific indication is the first one.

When it was carved, the world population was well over four billion people.

Who could have thought to write such a thing then?

The story described by the Elberton Granite Finishing Corporation itself explains that the patron was “a mysterious group of sponsors” represented by one man: Mr. Christian, who introduced himself as R.C. Christian.

Message and mystery for mankind

that was the slogan on the explanatory brochure.

Mr. Christian said only that this monument had been planned for years and that the ten “guides” for the preservation of man and the earth had been carefully formulated as a moralistic appeal to all peoples regardless of nationality, religion or politics.

Guidelines that were defined as “applicable to life.”

Until May 2022 when a senator included among her campaign points the demolition of the Guidestones, or rather, the Satanic Guidestones.

Kandiss Taylor also noted a particular coordination with respect to the placement of the Guidestones as explained in this May 3, 2022 tweet:

On July 6 he then thanked God again via tweet.

Video from a surveillance camera shows the moment of destruction:

The remains have been removed for security reasons.

There are those who speak of reconstruction and those who inflame controversy and theories.

What will be the truth?
We wait to be enlightened …

Meanwhile, the Elberton Granite Museum offers an older story.  🙂

GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL

GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL

Glastonbury Festival is another iconic music event that takes place in the days following the summer solstice.

Glastonbury is located about an hour from Stonehenge and is famous for the Glastonbury Tor or a hill on which St. Michael’s Tower is located.

There are legends about this place that lead back to Avalon, Ynys yr Afalon, the famous island linked to the myth of King Arthur, very exciting indeed.

Glastonbury also stands on a Ley line: a temporary line i.e. one of the lines that virtually connect places of historical significance related to the spiritual sphere.

Glastonbury Festival on the other hand concerns the musical sphere and was born in 1970 from the inspiration of Michael Evis after attending a Led Zeppelin performance.

What can we say … there is to be understood.

Throughout the years there have been memorable performances, difficult even to rank, out of all of them I would like to mention this one

Recently R.E.M. published on their twitter profile five songs taken from their 1999 concert asking their fans to vote for the best among: Loosing my religion, It’s the end of the world as we know it (we have already chatted about this song here)  Everybody hurts, At my most beautiful and Man on the moon.

Would you know how to choose?
Or do you have your own favorite performance by any other artist?

The Glastonbury Festival is also a case opportunity to indulge in distinctive outfits, but they turn out differently than those sported in the California sunshine for Coachella.

The British weather calls for raincoats and boots: here is a roundup of looks  among which we can admire Emma Watson.

How about?
Sun or rain as long as there is good music!

And of course coffee 🙂

PACHINKO

PACHINKO

Pachinko パチンコ is the name of something that is perhaps less understandable to Westerners, but only because we have other manifestations of alienation and ludopathy.

Pachinko パチンコcould be synonymous with mockery.

Verbal Kint taught us that the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist. And like that… he is gone.

Even gambling in Japan “does not exist” because it is banned. And it disappears under the name “entertainment” definition by which Pachinko is classified.

Many of us have been through a Pachinko parlor running: along with Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson in the movie Lost in Translation.

Pachinko is a hybrid game, we could say it is the representation of contamination: halfway between a pinball machine and a slot machine.

The trick is precisely the balls that from the game become the very object of winning but cannot be exchanged for money.

By playing Pachinko you can only get prizes of various kinds: chocoloate bars, pens, lighters, candy, T-shirts, cosmetics, bicycles, shopping vouchers, up to so-called “special” prizes i.e. silver or gold objects enclosed in plastic bags.

These special prizes can be exchanged at points outside but nearby Pachinko Parlours: the TUC Shops = Tokyo Union Circulation.

I found precise regulations regarding the installation of these phantom vertical pinball machines, but the risk of addiction?

These Pachinko Parlors are places where people are subjected to extremely high noise levels and bright lights.

The players appear to be sitting helpless, completely estranged, as if without identity in the flow of these slow, mechanical movements that cancel out time.

I am very struck by the slogan of a company that runs Pachinko Parlors:

Joy in life

We resolve to bring joy to the lives of our staff, our customers, and society as a whole through our business.

I do not see joy.

I found a survey from which it mainly shows that the Pachinko Parlour is a place to go alone.

A ball weighs 5.4 gr. a one-dollar box contains two thousand balls, so the weight corresponds to kg. 10.8!

I was thinking … with ten kg. of coffee how many cups can we get?  🙂  😉

COFFEE IN THE SAND

COFFEE IN THE SAND

Sand coffee or, more precisely Turkish sand coffee is the typical Turkish coffee brewed in hot sand.

First of all, thank you Lu: inexhaustible source of tips, and in case you have not yet visited her blog The Caustic Misanthrope be aware that you are missing out on very interesting reading.

Bir fincan kahve i.e. the cup of coffee is brewed in the cezve.

The cezve is a kind of kettle pot with a classic pot-bellied shape on the bottom, long-handled with a spout designed specifically for making Turkish coffee.

Turkish coffee is prepared differently than ours: ground coffee and water are mixed directly in the cezve and the coffee powder is not filtered.

This is why it is sometimes sweetened or spiced first: when the coffee is ready, the coffee powder settles quickly to the bottom but you don’t have to stir it.

But speaking of grains, let’s come to the sand!

What does sand have to do with this?

Apparently, coffee was introduced to Istanubul by Syrian traders in the 16th century, however it was initially considered a drug, so it was forbidden.

However, coffee gained popularity and the ban was lifted.

Sultans and nobles began to have it brewed by their workers using the hot sand method.

Because in the hot sand the heat is enveloping and complete compared to the flames of a fire, it makes for a coffee with a creamy consistency.

In the following video you can see the process.

What do you think about?

Not to rub it in, but unlike our coffee, Turkish coffee has been added to UNESCO‘s list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Perhaps we could try reading coffee grounds to seek more luck for the future.

RETURN TO TIFFANY

RETURN TO TIFFANY

Return to Tiffany is Maison Tiffany’s iconic collection.

Its origins date back to 1966, when Tiffany first began selling key chains with the now famous phrase “Please Return to Tiffany & Co. New York.”

The key chains were assigned a unique registration number, which ensured that Tiffany & Co could trace the keys back to the owner if they were lost.

That’s why Return to Tiffany: because the prestigious Fifth Avenue store would be able to reunite the data through a precise and confidential serial number.

In the fifty years that have passed, the Return to Tiffany collection has made its mark as a symbol of the tradition of craftsmanship, a fundamental pillar of Tiffany.

A Tiffany advertisement showed the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day: a heart-shaped Return to Tiffany tag in 14-karat yellow gold, priced at $11 …

Over time, there have been several evolutions: in 1980, Tiffany debuted the first piece of jewelry incorporating the Return to Tiffany tag, a heart-shaped yellow gold pendant on a necklace.

The collection expanded to an assortment of rings, bracelets and earrings, each with its own personality, all engraved with the emblem reminiscent of Tiffany‘s unparalleled style.

Have you ever happened to lose something?

I’d like you to tell me that you found it or that it was returned to you by some good soul.

According to Article 928 of the Civil Code  the delivery of the object found must be made known by publication for two successive Sundays and must remain posted for three days each time.

These seem like archaic concepts now that all kinds of information is disseminated online.

In Japan have a special name for lost or forgotten items: WASUREMONO 忘れ物.

Don’t you find it cute?

For them then, return is a very important issue; they are extremely precise and accurate.

The most commonly forgotten items are:

. cell phone

. bag

. train, bus, metro pass

. wallet

. umbrella

. keys

. electronic cigarette

Keys therefore come long after an object that did not exist in 1966: the cell phone, yet Tiffany’s continues to represent somewhat “the heart of New York.” Or not?
