SHOUT SONGS

SHOUT SONGS

Basically, the definition of shout songs refers to the Gospel genre: a strongly rhythmic religious song in the African-American folk tradition, characterised by chants or shouts of response between the leader and the congregation.

Shouts of invocation, we can say of a joyful kind.

However, when I think of shout songs, completely different songs immediately materialise in my mind.

Songs that are irresistible to me, in the sense that when I listen to them, I feel strongly involved and find myself singing with an unequivocally liberating emphasis.

Shouts that drag out a load of emotions.

What is the quintessential shout song in your opinion?

Wandering around the web in search of answers, the song mentioned the most left me somewhat perplexed.

It is actually one of the songs in the index of my Heron Formula, so it has a special meaning for me, but for my vision it does not exactly correspond to the idea of a shout song: Won’t Get Fooled Again – Roger Daltrey – The Who.

What do you think?

Going on a sort of statistics of the most quoted songs, I realised that a high percentage of them are in my index

A fluke? Definitely not: obviously it all comes down to my vision of music.

What do you prefer to sing instead?

I know, I should use the verb to listen, but shout songs provides an additional level of involvement.

Speaking of involvement, I also take this opportunity to talk about Emily Armstrong.

shout songs

Her singing screamed a huge responsibility: to get on stage with Linkin Park.

Surely no one considered the thought of a replacement: impossible, but still a huge perplexity remained.

That’s why I appreciated Mike Shinoda’s sentence: the voice of Chester Bennington is you.

We are the voice of those who have left us.

In contrast to the shouting, there are those who have chosen silence, no less than a thousand artists: 1,000 UK Artists

shout songs

These 1,000 UK Artists have released a 12-track album entitled Is that what we want?

Here are the titles:
1. The
2. British
3. Government
4. Must
5. Not
6. Legalise
7. Music
8. Theft
9. To
10. Benefit
11. AI
12. Companies

These tracks do not contain any of the thousands of entries among which we can mention Annie Lennox and Kate Bush and represent the artists’ protest against the proposed change in copyright law.

The amendment would allow artificial intelligence companies to create their own products using rights-protected work: music, lyrics, etc., without a licence, effectively favouring the so-called training of algorithms without providing any remuneration for authors.

Silence to communicate.

Shall we also add our voice?

Or perhaps I should say let us also add our shout …

LOST

LOST

Lost is an entirely unreleased track that anticipates the planned April release of the 20th anniversary celebration edition of Meteora.

2003: after Hybrid Theory, Linkin Park unveils Meteora and still do not know that their work will not be a meteor and will consecrate them to music history.

On Linkin Park’s website you can find these words

congratulations on solving all our puzzles and welcome to our warehouse

As you know I love puzzles

I don’t know if in the days during which the countdown appeared before the release of Lost you also tried to solve: clicking on the CD case a word game to guess appeared.

Cute, right?

Overall Lost was really a surprise, and honestly hearing Chester Bennington‘s voice in a totally unreleased track triggered a number of seesaw thoughts for me.

Among other things, the lyrics are particularly striking:

a scar somewhere down inside of me
Something I can not repair ...

I’m trapped in yesterday
Where the pain is all I know

… I’m lost in these memories …

But then, considering the official tweet set on the profile, I agreed to consider Lost as a “time capsule.”

In a less metaphorical sense, now the term time capsule is used to refer to an external hard drive for wireless storage, but it also remains the classic “time capsule” we are used to seeing in American movies and beyond.

For example, there is a capsule in the Well Room of the Torre Ghirlandina at the Civic Museum of Modena, which in this video tells us various interesting facts about it

What would you like to put in a time capsule?

According to the International Time Capsule Society there would be more than 10 thousand time capsules in the world. Only one in a thousand is found.

On Focus you can see a gallery with the nine most wanted capsules in the world.

They are lost

Linkin Park, however, made us find their time, their sense, and they put Anime in it.

Anime アニメ as Kasabake explains on the blog As Circles in the Water comes from “animēshon,” Japanese transliteration of the English word “animation.”

Unfortunately I have huge gaps in the subject, although I find the word Anime poetic and intense, maybe you would like to add something about this wonderful subject?

In the meantime, enjoy your viewing and listening

In an interview Mike Shinoda stated that Lost was not included on the Meteora album because of the sound being too similar to Numb.

TIME IS A VALUABLE THING

TIME IS A VALUABLE THING

I go on thanking for the comments and this time I take this opportunity to reply from here to Duncan Weick: this blog is a gift from my husband and the structure was developed by Zeus.
I try to write and use the images that I hope will make sense.
In this regard, I would like to take this opportunity to talk about inspiration: is there anything in particular that facilitates writing, or in general the creation of something that you are passionate about?
What does arouse a state of mind in you, thanks to which you can feel in the right mood, feel at peace with yourself, if not with the world?
My inspiration almost always comes from music.
Rock, to be exact.
Play it fuckin ‘loud!” as Bob Dylan taught us.
Power. For me, absolutely energy. But it is impossible to give a definition, to harness in a concept, to circumscribe in a description, because basically it is the absence of barriers.
An idea that clashes a lot with this particular moment in which we are actually “enclosed”.
This is why I thought of the phrase “time is a precious thing“: time is not precluded, indeed, now we could say that we have a perception of it dilated, at times perhaps impending.
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings” continues Mike Shinoda when he sings in a crescendo that I perceive as a fantastic invitation to shout.
The magic of some songs is precisely eclecticism, and the power to adapt multifaceted to multiple visions and situations, and in this case too, obviously the interpretations are different.
Personally, my favorite one is relevant to the awareness of time. Concept in turn not entirely universal in the sense that its perception is variable according to the point of view, but more generally, I consider the pendulum symbol linked to the most modern society.
Now that pendulum is particularly dominating all of us who are stopped, and who should make serious and necessary reflections, I believe.
But without going to talk about atomization, I would remain in the simplicity of our cup: will your conception of time change from now on?
Or … in the end, it doesn’t even matter?
