EVIDENCE

EVIDENCE

Evidence means the available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid.

Evidence is an audiovisual montage that crosses the work of Arthur Rimbaud, Antonin Artaud and René Daumal in their journeys to new horizons.

Stimulated by these metaphysical journeys, the music and sound composition of Perfect Vision is the starting point for this new multidisciplinary exhibition, collectively designed by Soundwalk Collective and Patti Smith for the Centre Pompidou.

Have you ever visited the Centre Pompidou?

According to this video, tourists don’t know about it …

Undoubtedly a nice way to promote yourself, anyway I guess if I agree.

I’ve been there every time I’ve been lucky enough to visit Paris, and I find it hard to believe that tourists ignore it.

Of course the gimmick of the QR code embedded is rather ingenious, or is it?

Especially when I think that we visited Paris following complimentary hotel maps with all the Metro lines … yes, it was just that couple of years and technological eras ago … 🙂

Incidentally, “chatting” through the comments with Olivia, I was just remembering our attempts to ask for coffee by repeating serré over and over again in the vain hope of drinking it as short as possible …

Also pictured is Patti Smith, portrayed by Annie Leibovitz, having coffee at Café de Flore, in Paris

Patti said in an interview that Evidence is about travel.

Smiling, I think of the Pompidou Center’s gadgets: inspired by the classic souvenirs commonly considered as a “proof” of travel to be carried as a souvenir to display at home, or as a thought for friends and acquaintances.

So what is the proof, that is, the gadget you purchased during one of your trips that you particularly cherish?

YOU MAKE ME FEEL LIKE IT’S HALLOWEEN

YOU MAKE ME FEEL LIKE IT’S HALLOWEEN

You make me feel like it’s Halloween the first time I heard this electronic gothic track by Muse I thought it could be a compliment. Cool!

However, this song lyrics are about feeling trapped.

Thinking of a situation with no way out, do you find yourself imagining horror movie scenarios?

Muse certainly played with this concept.

Tribute or parody?

The video was edited by Jesse Lee Stout: Muse Creative Director for Metaform Studio, direction is by Tom Teller.

Among so many references, do you want to mention some?

There are several interpretations of You make me feel like it’s Halloween, mainly originated by the final phrase: but you are the caretaker.

In an interview Matt Bellamy jokingly stated that there were too many songs about Christmas and it was time for someone to celebrate some other holiday, like Halloween for example.

What do you think about?

Over these twenty years undoubtedly Muse with their hits accustomed us to different kind of emotions.

I have always been impressed first and foremost by the powerful charge that Matthew Bellamy & Co. manage to exude, but also by their trademark flair combined with a completely unique genre that initially made it complicated to include them into a defined musical genre.

What is your favorite among their songs?

I know, it’s not easy to choose, I can’t rank them, although I have a special connection with some in particular.

In light of this we can perhaps reconsider You make me feel like it’s Halloween more for the message than the horror quotes, would you agree?

On October 26 Muse will be at Alcatraz in Milan great way to feel in the Hallooween mood.

How about you? When do you feel like it’s Halloween?

GREENWASHING

GREENWASHING

Greenwashing i.e., communication or marketing strategy pursued by companies, institutions, entities that present their activities as environmentally sustainable, trying to conceal their negative environmental impact.

I would say this is happening more and more, what do you think?

Let’s go back to Trieste where the 20th edition of International Talent Support was held, it was launched in 2002 and has become a platform for showcasing and supporting young talent.

The historic location at the Salone degli Incanti in the heart of Trieste was the scene of the presentation of “The First Exhibition: 20 years of contemporary fashion evolution,” an exhibition that enjoys the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and will be open to the public in spring 2023.

In jury Orsola De Castro referred as the pioneer of upcycling

Her schedule these days shows a constantly updated Utopia continuation of the flagship themes of Fashion Revolution of which she is a co-founder.

Instead of making people feel guilty, we help them recognize that they have the power to do something to bring about positive change.

I find this a great place to start in general.

Greenwashing is not just about the fashion industry.

We could mention glaring examples in music as well, or in marketing: misleading advertisements and greenwashing.

Not to mention the nonsense in terms: we are at the point where we are given advice bordering on the ridiculous to reduce the use of electricity under the illusory assumption that we can reduce bills that have become unaffordable, but at the same time incentives for electric cars are published in the Official Gazette.

And how should we charge them, then?

SHADOW

SHADOW

Shadow, what is your first thought?

I start by quoting people: Nick

Then random: motors

Music

Movies

I could go on, more and more, would you like to mention other examples as well?

The world is full of shadows

I wonder how the choice to call Shadow even a computer that can be accessed remotely came about.

It is is a powerful Windows PC that allows to use any kind of application without buying hardware, which as you know, tends to be obsolete very quickly, as well as expensive.

A faculty that opens up a kind of new and important revolution with respect to the use of technology in our daily lives.

Or do you see it more as another standardization?

The obvious and immediate benefits come in the form of being able to operate at maximum power without having to shell out large sums in equipment purchases.

Also at the level of the environment, the exploitation of certain materials would certainly be reduced, and above all, the need for disposal of many devices would be reduced, since everyone would be able to operate with the available device, simply by connecting.

However, connection may also be the first downside: if it goes off, all work would stop.

The same if the “server” would break.

And again: the conditions at the beginning may appear advantageous, but the costs could rise uncontrollably, as we are unfortunately seeing.

So there is a risk of finding oneself regretting the old PC, perhaps slow but working.

Light, or shadow?

While we decide, something “dark” undoubtedly is the cloud!

I can’t help but think about the scene in which Jason Segel yells at Cameron Diaz, “nobody knows what the cloud is!”

The infamous cloud: a kind of black hole where our data ends up, or a valuable opportunity?

To USerS 🙂 the harsh judgment.

MARTA’S BROLO

MARTA’S BROLO

I sincerely thank Beatrice Tognarelli and Mari’s Manual for the opportunity to read Marta’s Brolo

I admit that when I first read the title of this book, I wondered what a brolo was.

Do you know?

Around here, we don’t call it brolo, we just say vegetable garden, or in slang “vineyard” even though there isn’t any vine plant.

So: at the first step of Marta,s Brolo I learned something new.

But the most beautiful surprise was this wonderful dedication.

And I listened to the author’s heart and I sensed a deep love for roots, with reference to both the land and family, and this as you know is something that I cherish.

Are you fortunate enough to have a vegetable garden?

My father has always tended vegetable gardens: at our house we only had a strip of land, but he also helped elsewhere, allowing us to eat fresh, wholesome vegetables.

This, on the other hand, is the mini garden that my father-in-law gave us for the kitchen, although in the house unfortunately the plants suffer.

Speaking of cooking, I enjoyed the recipes that Marta’s Brolo encompasses.

So did the particular “introductions” to each chapter.

I was also pleased to find several references to coffee, including this one

The smell of coffee intoxicated the room, she poured it into the cup, and stood at the window to taste it, closed her eyes as the rustle of vegetation came to her, suave sound of the countryside.

What sound comes from your window as you drink coffee?
