QR code

Let me introduce the KCDC QR code aka the Keep Calm & Drink Coffe QR code!

In the hope that it will be useful in some way, I hope to be able to spread it in a sensible way, of course as always advice is welcome 🙂

QR code is short for Quick Response and is basically a bar code on steroids. While the bar code stores information horizontally, the QR code does so both horizontally and vertically.

How?

In the case of barcodes, information can only be encoded in the transverse direction i.e., in one dimension, while in the case of 2D codes, information can be encoded in both transverse and longitudinal directions i.e., in two dimensions.

But it is more difficult for scanners to recognize the position of a 2D code than that of a bar code.

Based on this idea, a position detection pattern was created, located at the three corners of each code.

To avoid false recognition, the position detection pattern must have a unique shape.

Members of the development team began an exhaustive investigation of the relationship between black and white areas in images and characters printed on flyers, magazines, corrugated cardboard and other documents after reducing them to patterns with black and white areas.

Thus identifying the ratio that appeared least on the printed:1:1:3:1:1.

In this way, the widths of the black and white areas in the location detection pattern were determined, and the scanners became able to detect the code regardless of the scanning angle by finding this unique ratio.

But who composed this development team?

To find out, we need to take a step back: in the 1980s the barcode system was used in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, and retail.

In the 1990s due to the shift from mass production of one type of product to more flexible production, more detailed production control was needed at production sites, and in association with this, the development of a bar code with a higher capacity was needed.

In 1992, Masahiro Hara 原正浩, who was engaged in the development of barcode readers and OCR optical character recognition devices at Denso, was asked to develop bar code readers that could read bar codes faster.

In addition, products were being increasingly resized, so it was necessary to create a code that could be printed in a smaller area.

After a year and a half from the start of the development project, following much trial and error, the QR Code system was successfully developed, capable of storing about 7,000 digits with the additional capability of encoding Kanji characters.

This code can store a large amount of information and at the same time can be read at over 10 times the speed of other codes.

Mine, however, keeps coffee time, try it to believe 🙂

MUSICAL MOCHA

MUSICAL MOCHA

On the fact that the bubbling of coffee rising in the mocha is a pleasant sound we all agree, right?

I report again the chance to download the ringtone.

We have already seen together an alternative use of the mocha for cooking mushrooms.

Do you know of any others?

Following Giuliano Sangiorgi‘s participation at the Locomotive Jazz Festival I saw that the mocha can become a musical instrument!

They are the MOKA Family big band.

They call themselves fourteen crazy musicians who, armed with instruments and musical mokes, shoot thoughtful lyrics to the rhythm of Symphonic Swing’n’Roll in a stage-musical game suspended between reality and imagination.

Sounds like a good saraband to me, the merriment is infectious, don’t you think?

So thinking about the musical mocha, what other object produces a sound that you particularly enjoy?

It could be the sizzle of pancakes, the “sclock” of the cap of a jam jar … here we also go on onomatopoeia and therefore I ask for help with the right words.

Dried fruit at Christmas sclock?

Or is it the cookies under the teeth that crackle?

In The Big Chill for example, the characters make a sheet of aluminum foil musical.

Cate Blanchett in Bandits uses ladle and pots.

And when you throw yourself on the sofa? The noise is muffled and preludes the welcome of comfort that awaits us.

Staying on the relaxation moments but also on the music theme: are you among those who under the roar of the shower water sing?

What do you like to sing?

NEST IN THE PARK

NEST IN THE PARK

If I say Nest in the Park, what do you think?

Specifically: Ticino Park, which I have already told you about.

Could it be a nest in the park for Ibis?

Or a nest in the park for them?

What about a den?

Maybe for the hare or for some other being that wanders around …

No: Nest in the Park is an Eco-camp, to be precise it is the first Italian Tentsile Experience Camp.

What does this mean?

It means camping tents suspended in the trees for a total immersion experience in Nature.

What do you think about?

Can you imagine waking up and having a coffee in the heart, in an actual sense, of the Ticino Park?

Or, more generally, what is your ideal vacation?

Journey?

Adventure or comfort?

City  or countryside?

I grew up experiencing camping vacations, not as extreme as the Park Nest, but equally significant enough to occupy a special place among the memories of the heart.

Of course, it’s all different now, we no longer talk about camping but glamping, and it seems light years from the time when postcards were sent …

And by the way, I’ve come a long way too, literally.

With my husband, holiday transformed: from the static “camping” to mile-long walks to visit as many places as possible.

Besides Paris I would mention Umbria.

But what about you? What holiday can you tell me about?

NEW EMPORIO ARMANI CAMPAIGN

NEW EMPORIO ARMANI CAMPAIGN

New Emporio Armani fall winter 2022-2023 campaign: have I already said I like King Giorgio? Claro que si!

Have I already posted an Emporio Armani  fashion show? Claro que si!

And it is also clear that I have a particular fondness for Armani‘s gray tones and its unmistakable timeless lines, just like the cut of the pants that open this video

These images immediately made me think of one of the sequences I have loved since I was a child

How do you see yourself?

Do you have a four-legged friend who looks like you?

How did you meet each other?

Do you also walk symbiotically?

Photographer Gerrad Gethings, who specializes in such portraits, has published a series of shots centered on this very concept.

A BBC article describes this phenomenon called canine mini-me based on studies by Professor Michael Roy.

Forty-five dogs and their owners were photographed separately and judges were shown one owner, that owner’s dog, and another dog, with the task of choosing the true match. The results were consistent with a selection report: observers were only able to match purebred dogs to their owners, and there was no relationship between the ability to match a person with his or her pet and the length of time they had lived together. The ability to match people and pets did not appear to be based on any simple matching of traits (e.g., size or hairiness). The results suggest that when people choose a pet, they look for one that, on some level, looks like them, and when they get a purebred, they get what they want.

What are your thoughts on this?

Among the main characters in the Emporio Armani video is a German dachshund, like our Rocky: my parents adopted him because the “human” he was living with wanted to get rid of him.

Rocky was afraid to do what was his “job” that is, to get into dens, and for that reason he was beaten.

Unfortunately, he was forever left with an extreme distrust of people, but with us he was very sweet.

Here, maybe I could say that shades of gray are only beautiful when it comes to clothing, what do you say?

KCDC on VOYAGE MINNESOTA MAGAZINE!

KCDC on VOYAGE MINNESOTA MAGAZINE!

I sincerely thank all the staff of Voyage Minnesota Magazine and especially Camila, for contacting me and for the space they gave me!

I went browsing in Minnesota to discover Egg coffee and this virtual journey allowed me to discover interesting things I did not know, but at the same time someone else discovered me.

Unbelievable stuff, I know.

Yet here I am, with new friends and another story to tell.

The story of a project that I liked right away.

The story of a project whose thoughts are key words, which are also my own:

We also think that artists rock.

This is kind of the concept of Minnesota Voyage Magazine:
We love small business, mom-n-pop and holes in the walls. We’re not snobs, but we don’t love most chains. We think independent entrepreneurs, freelancers and other risk-takers make our cities exciting places to live. We cherish the rebellious spirit, we don’t think just a handful of big companies should control all of our commerce, and we think smore with vegan marshmallows are better than regular marshmallows. We respect people and organizations that take the road less traveled. We root for the underdog and almost never say no to pizza.

After all, how can one say no to pizza?

If you’d like, after pizza, you can find me by clicking on this coffee.

COOPERATION

COOPERATION

If I say cooperation, what is the first thing that comes to mind?

Etymologically, collaborating means to work together.

Is there one particular thing you collaborate on?

A quote from Goethe says:
It is necessary to come together, not to stand together, but to do something together.

Do you find that to be right?

The laborious idea of doing, where unity does not make strength but creates.

Do you find more inspiration in sharing, or do you need your own carve-out of solitude?

Increasingly at the work level, an aptitude for teamwork is required as a more effective method than joining separate pieces together like puzzle pieces.

Speaking of joining and collaborating, 2010: Escape from Polis is a blog with a very unique concept: everyone can be an author as well as a reader and commenter.

I am very grateful because I received an invitation to write completely freely.

Of course, I accepted it very gladly and thought I would talk about the famous exoskeleton  about which there has been a lot of talk since the announcement of experimentation by workers of a well-known supermarket chain came out.
